Three-star defensive end Vili Leveni (Hurst, Texas/L.D. Bell) announced Wednesday night via Twitter that he has verbally committed to Utah.
A 6-foot-4, 220-pound end, Leveni ultimately chose Utah over an offer from Oklahoma State. Leveni also had offers from Boise State, Mississippi State, Houston and others.
“Decided I want to play ball at The University of Utah! #ThankGod #Utah #Utes,” Leveni tweeted. “Thanks everybody for showing love & support, means a lot. Closer to my dreams #UteNation.”
Leveni also mentioned on Twitter that he was excited to be teammates with Euless (Texas) Trinity defensive lineman Sam Tevi. The two, despite playing for rival schools separated by a very short drive, are good friends off the field.
Recruited to Utah by safeties coach/recruiting coordinator Morgan Scalley, Leveni is ranked No. 99 among all defensive ends nationally and No. 213 among all players in Texas for the Class of 2013. Leveni is Utah’s 23rd commitment of the 2013 class.
