Dewayne Hendrix 'blessed' after big day

Not many prospects can boast they received four offers in a week. Few can say they received four in a day. How about four in four hours?

Whatever that number is, it’s a small group but one that just added a new member. O’Fallon (Ill.) class of 2014 defensive end Dewayne Hendrix picked up four offers -- his first four offers -- Thursday afternoon.

Illinois came first and was followed by Kansas State, Ole Miss and South Florida.

“It’s a blessing,” Hendrix said. “Finally all my hard work has paid off. Everything I been working toward, I finally see the results. I was truly amazed.”

While Hendrix expected the offers to come sooner or later after his 60-tackle, four-sack season, he was shocked when Kansas State, the No. 1 team in the BCS standings, tendered him an offer.

“I was truly honored when they offered,” he said. “I knew then the sky was just the limit.”

Hendrix said he likes the coaching staff at Ole Miss, and it is one of his own coaches informing him about USF.

“My position coach told me a lot of great things about them, telling me it’s a good program and coaching staff is pretty good and a lot of people went pro from there,” Hendrix said.
