ESPN Watch List quarterback Rafe Peavey (Bolivar, Mo.) committed to Arkansas back in June, and he has made sure to keep a close eye on the Razorbacks throughout the season. Although Arkansas had a rocky season, Saturday’s game against LSU gave him hope for the future.
Peavey was in attendance and watched Arkansas fall 20-13 to the Tigers. While the Razorbacks finished 4-8 for the season, Peavey said he was happy to see his future team fighting against a top-10 opponent.
“When I went down there, I was encouraged how hard the team played,” Peavey said. “Knowing they didn’t have that much to play for but still fought to the end, they really showed some heart.”
Peavey added that he has kept up with how Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson has done throughout the season. Peavey, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound junior, said he hopes to follow Wilson’s footsteps in regards to how he manages the offense.
“As they got farther in the season, I realized how much leadership Tyler Wilson brings to that team,” Peavey said. “I want to be like that when I get there.”
Peavey led Bolivar to a 9-3 record and a trip to the Missouri Class 4 district championship game. His focus now is to improve in the offseason, not only as a quarterback but also as an athlete. Peavey is a solid, dual-threat option who consistently runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds and has a best of 4.47.
“Overall, I don’t want to focus on one particular thing,” Peavey said. “I’m just trying to get ready for Elite 11 and the Marine All-American combines in California. That’s my focus for the off-season.”
