Echols-Luper picks TCU after visit

Cameron Echols-Luper (Auburn, Ala./Auburn) knew that no matter what, he wanted to play college football in the state of Texas. On Sunday, he announced which Lone Star State school he'd be heading to.

The three-star athlete gave his verbal commitment to TCU after taking an official visit over the weekend. Echols-Luper confirmed his decision in a text message and announced the news on his Twitter account.

“I was going to wait till signing day, but... In the fall of 2013 I will be attending TCU!” he wrote.

The 5-foot-11, 183-pound recruit would prefer to play receiver in college but is open to being a defensive back if necessary.

Echols-Luper made the move after decommitting from Texas A&M on Tuesday. Since then, he’d received strong interest from several Texas schools and had scheduled an official visit to Texas Tech for next weekend.

He won’t need to now. Echols-Luper landed with a Horned Frogs program that’s located only an hour away from his hometown of Ennis, Texas.

He’s the 18th verbal commit for TCU’s 2013 class and the second this weekend after three-star quarterback Zach Allen (Temple, Texas/Temple) flipped his pledge from Syracuse.
