Two-star running back Marcus Horne (Milwaukee/Bradley Tech) was hoping he would get some kind of help from Michigan State or it would have been the Football Championship Subdivision for him.
He got that help from Michigan State, which offered him a grayshirt. Horne committed to the Spartans after getting that assurance, he told ESPN.com in a text message.
Horne has a host of offers from MAC programs, but he said he would have likely gone to an FCS school so he could compete for a national championship if things did not work out with Michigan State. He was favoring Illinois State, North Dakota State and Northern Iowa if it came down to going to an FCS program.
