INDIANAPOLIS – Offensive tackle Zachary Murdock (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville South) is still looking for his first offer, but he has been receiving interest on the recruiting trail for quite some time.
Ohio, Purdue, Syracuse and Toledo have shown significant interest, and Cincinnati, Marshall, Michigan, Pittsburgh and Wisconsin sent him invites for games during the fall, Murdock said.
He took up Michigan’s offer to visit for its game against Notre Dame.
“It was one of the more exciting visits I’ve been on,” Murdock said. “That’s what piqued my interest in Michigan, that’s what really made me love them. I feel like the way they treated us all and the hospitality made you feel at home. The whole environment at the place was fun.”
With the Wolverines’ spectacular offensive line haul over the weekend, there might not be room for Murdock in Michigan’s 2013 class if it does offer down the road. Murdock still plans to talk with the coaching staff there, though.
“Pretty much we just talk about how my pass protection is one of my strengths. They really like that,” he said. “They told me in the next couple months they want me to keep working, and they’ll be keeping an eye on me. They came to my school, and I’ve been emailing and staying in contact.”
