Nebraska coach Bo Pelini knows the Buckeye State well having grown up in Youngstown, Ohio. The Huskers under Pelini recruit northeast Ohio hard, but Nebraska reached into southwest Ohio on Thursday when it dealt its latest offer.
Mike McCray II (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison) reported an offer from Nebraska in a text message to ESPN.com. McCray called it "a great offer." He added Washington and West Virginia could be offering soon.
The top of McCray's leader board is fluid depending on which new teams offer, but he has a top group of Arizona, Illinois, Michigan, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Tennessee. Kentucky and Penn State were among McCray's top group earlier this month but have since dropped.
McCray is only considering teams that offered, meaning Ohio State, where his father played, is not among his favorites. The Buckeyes are recruiting McCray but no offer has come yet.
