BCS schools waiting to see Roback throw

Brogan Roback (Toledo, Ohio/Saint John’s) has offers from Bowling Green, Ohio and Toledo, but the BCS schools are still holding off until he throws for them live.

One of the most recent schools to begin showing interest in Roback is Indiana, which hosted him this past weekend for a spring practice.

“I’ve been talking to [assistant] coach Kevin Johns the last two weeks like every day on Facebook – all day every day,” Roback said. “They said they need to see me throw. They’re saying I’m high on their list.”

Iowa and Ohio State also told Roback the same when he traveled to both campuses for junior days at each. The Hawkeyes have been on Roback for quite some time, but the interest from Ohio State has only come recently.

“Coach [Tom] Herman and [Mark] Pantoni watched my film and liked what they saw. They said I’m high on their list, and one thing that surprised them is I can run,” the 6-foot-3, 200-pound junior said. “They want to see me throw before they make a decision [on an offer].”

Another team Roback is waiting on to offer is Michigan State. The Spartans have hosted him on visits six times already, but coach Mark Dantonio and his staff are known as one of the more meticulous staffs in the country when it comes to dishing out an offer.

“I just like the atmosphere there,” Roback said. “We’re all familiar with each other. They said just be patient and I’m at the top of their list. It’s just a matter of time.”

Roback’s next offer could come from Cincinnati, though. Roback visited the Bearcats recently, and he and his parents spoke with the staff for about 90 minutes.

“They said be patient as they have two or three guys in front of me they already offered, but it shouldn’t be long until I get an offer.”

A visit to Illinois could be in line this weekend as Roback is still deciding whether to make the trip. He is familiar with new coach Tim Beckman from his days at Toledo, and Roback said he is still waiting to see if Beckman still holds him in as high regard at Illinois as he did at Toledo.
