Florida punter commits to Buckeyes

Everyone knows special teams is Urban Meyer's baby. So despite a reduction in scholarships due to NCAA violations, it is not a complete shock Ohio State will use one of its 2013 scholarships on the kicking game.

Kicker/punter Johnny Townsend (Orlando/Boone) committed to Ohio State on Tuesday, according to specialist coach Chris Sailer.

"Top Punter at Alabama camp, Johnny Townsend, has committed to Ohio State on full scholarship. Congratulations. ‪#OhioState‬ ‪#Buckeyes," Sailer wrote from his Twitter account @Chris_Sailer.

Townsend is the Buckeyes' 12th commitment in the 2013 class and first in nearly two months. Ohio State is No. 7 in the 2013 class rankings.

He will punt at Ohio State.
