Wisconsin is first visit for Tommy Lessing

Barrington (Ill.) High School has been kind to the Wisconsin Badgers over the last few years, and one 2014 prospect from the school received his first look at Wisconsin this past weekend.

Tommy Lessing, a 2014 safety, visited Wisconsin for its opener Saturday with teammate Jack Keeler, a 2013 offensive tackle committed to Wisconsin.

“It was very awesome,” Lessing said. “We got a view of all the facilities. They’re re-doing it all: the locker room and weight room. The coaches, they’re real nice guys, very respectful and stuff like that.”

Lessing was most impressed with the atmosphere and fan passion at Wisconsin.

“The fans were absolutely insane. The student section was real energized. Everyone was intense, and it seemed like a big family there,” he said.

The Wisconsin staff has Lessing on its radar and told him to keep in touch.

A new staff got in touch with Lessing recently, too. Michigan State assistant Dan Roushar spoke with Lessing recently.

“He said I can give him a call whenever I want,” Lessing said. “He’s looking forward to getting to know me in the next few months and wants to show me all the great things Michigan State has to offer.”

The next visit for Lessing will come in a few weeks when he travels to Stillwater, Okla., to check out Oklahoma State.

“There’s a lot I’m looking forward to,” Lessing said. “I definitely want to see all the coaches and take a look around the campus and see what it’s liking being in the Big Ten and the Big 12.”
