Miami commit Grant Lingafelter looking at Indiana

Miami (Ohio) added a commitment Monday night, and he instantly became the RedHawks’ top 2013 verbal pledge.

Three-star Chagrin Falls (Ohio) Grant Lingafelter, the No. 120-ranked offensive tackle, committed to Miami on Monday, two weeks after taking an unofficial visit.

“It seemed like the right place. I loved it,” Lingafelter said. “I saw everything and it all looked nice, and what really pushed the decision was the academics.”

Offensive line coach Ed Stults recruited Lingafelter to Miami, and the two have been talking for the last couple months on the telephone. He also visited the high school recently and watched Lingafelter play a game.

“He seems like an awesome guy. He likes where the program is going, as did I,” Lingafelter said. “I felt like it was time to pull the trigger.”

His recruitment still is not over, however. Lingafelter will visit Miami unofficially again this coming weekend, but he will visit Indiana for a second time on Nov. 4. He made it to Indiana on Oct. 13, and it put the Hoosiers toward the top of his list. He went to Miami on his way back from Bloomington.

The Indiana coaches have not offered Lingafelter, so his upcoming trip will determine how serious Lingafelter will continue to look at the Hoosiers before signing day.

“If Indiana offers later on I’ll probably look into them a little deeper and see what happens, but right now I’m locked in with Miami,” he said.
