Michigan, Vandy interested in Darryl Long

With his first season at tight end having come to an end, Westerville (Ohio) South tight end Darryl Long had a few BCS programs extend him offers earlier in the week.

Now, two teams in the top 25 of the 2013 class rankings want him on campus for a game. Michigan and Vanderbilt both wanted Long to make a visit this weekend, but he will make the shorter trip up to Ann Arbor to see Michigan. He was previously there for a camp this summer.

“I haven’t been in contact as much but one of the coaches is supposed to contact me soon because they were going to talk to me about where I stand about getting an offer,” Long said.

Having watched Michigan several times on TV, Long is excited to get his first taste of a live game at the Big House.

“The atmosphere is crazy and Michigan is one of those schools, those great programs,” he said.

Vanderbilt assistant Charles Bankins has been in communication with Long through Facebook trying to get him down to Nashville.

“He told me to come as soon as possible,” Long said. “I’ve been getting a lot of letters from Vandy. I watched them play a few times and they pass the ball a lot. I don’t know much about the school but they’re in the SEC.”

Following his Michigan visit, Long will head south to Durham, N.C., to visit Duke on Nov. 24.
