Marcus Ball joins brother at Wisconsin

Lightning strikes twice for Bret Bielema and Wisconsin.

Two years after Ray Ball committed to Wisconsin after an official visit with the Badgers for the Ohio State game, his younger brother Marcus, a three-star athlete, did the same.

Westerville (Ohio) South athlete Marcus Ball committed to Wisconsin while on his official visit Sunday.

“Pretty much I loved it here and enjoyed it so much and having my brother here is a big factor,” Marcus said minutes after his commitment. “He can show me the looks and the coaches have been pretty loyal to me. I loved the atmosphere since day one and got to see it on a more personal level for three years now.

“I definitely feel like it’s right.”

Ball said it was “crazy” and “pretty sweet” he and his older brother committed in similar fashion, and he cannot wait to play with his brother again although this time he will be on defense as a safety.

“He loves it. It’s crazy, a blessing, too, to have him up here,” Ball said. “We’ve always played football together even when I was too young I still found a way to play with him. Not that it would have been hard to leave him, but to say ever since little league to play when he was protecting me as a quarterback or receiver up through high school, it’s a blessing.”

Ball is the 17th commitment of the Badgers’ 2013 class. He said he will not make any other official visits, including one to Arizona State in December he already set.

“I’m done now. I’m loyal,” he said. “If God hits you and says this is how you feel, why go visit other places. I don’t want to be of those guys committed and unloyal.”
