Zach Yousey (Columbus, Ohio/Harvest Prep) said last week he would not be committing to Toledo while on his official visit over the weekend.
How quickly things change. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound receiver committed to the Rockets before his visit ended Sunday.
“After the visit, seeing the players’ perspective was really good,” Yousey said. “Seeing the whole team, it’s one big group. That was good.”
It was the fourth visit to Toledo for Yousey, who brought his dad. It was the first time the propect really had an opportunity to talk to the players, though. He picked their brains about everything.
“They said the coaches were very unified. It starts with the base, and if the base is unified everything else is going to be unified, too,” Yousey said. “They said the campus is real nice. They get some great fans up there.”
What got him to jump on board was how the offensive coaches explained to Yousey how they would use him on the offense.
“They want to use me in a little of everything, told me a few people they remind me of,” Yousey said. “That was a big plus for me and my dad.”
Toledo was at the top of Yousey’s list, along with Bowling Green, before the visit. He had a visit scheduled to Bowling Green for next weekend but does not plan to make that visit now.
Wisconsin and Purdue, before Danny Hope’s removal, were interested in Yousey. He said if the Badgers or another BCS school offered he would listen.
Eastern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Miami (Ohio) and Ohio also offered Yousey.
