Since decommitting from Michigan in early December, three-star cornerback Anthony Standifer (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee) has not had a leader.
That changed this weekend when he visited Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are far and away the top option for Standifer, and he nearly committed.
Standifer said he still has to be approved by admissions because he needs to take one more Spanish class by June 30. He said he will take an online course as soon as possible.
"That Spanish class has to get approved by admissions," Standifer said. "I should know by [Monday or Tuesday]. If I can find a class and be done by June 30 I’ll be OK."
The final two teams for Standifer are the Irish and Boise State, which he will officially visit on Jan. 27. If the Irish approve his Spanish class before he leaves for Boise State, Standifer would consider cancelling the trip and committing but believes he will make the visit.
"Right now I'll keep it open in case, for some reason, admissions say it's not OK," Standifer said. "So I'll be taking my trip to Boise State next weekend."
