Junior offensive tackle Jake Campos (West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley) already has five offers, but he’s hoping his biggest will come in a few weeks when he heads to the heart of Big 12 territory.
On March 18, Campos will visit Oklahoma during his spring break.
“I know Oklahoma is a great program,” Campos said. “They’re going to be successful whenever they’re playing. It’d be a great place to play. They produce quality players.”
The 6-foot-6, 250-pound Campos has made a few visits already, but this will be his first to Norman, Okla.
“First, meeting more of the coaching staff,” Campos said of what he is looking forward to the most. “It will also be the first engineering department I’ll see.”
Another traditional power is also looking at Campos. Notre Dame has been in contact with Campos recently.
“We’re trying to get up there for a spring practice or game,” Campos said.
Campos has offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Missouri and Purdue, as well as interest from Nebraska and Wisconsin in addition to Oklahoma and Notre Dame.
Campos has been to Iowa and Iowa State three times.
“I really like the style of football [Iowa] plays,” he said. “I love the atmosphere, a huge crowd. It’s a pretty cool atmosphere.
“Iowa State, I love the coaching staff up there. Coach [Paul] Rhoads is awesome. I like their facilities, really like the overall campus.”
Campos also went to Missouri for its junior day earlier this month.
As for Kansas and Purdue, Campos is still familiarizing himself with the staffs there.
Campos claims no favorites and hopes to have a decision entering his senior season.
