Caleb Day (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) made the most of his second chance at Ohio State’s Senior Advanced Camp on Sunday.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Day had an offer under the previous Buckeyes’ regime, but was told to come to camp to be re-evaluated.
On Sunday, the 2013 recruit impressed when he turned in a 4.5 40-yard dash and looked strong in the individual drills both at cornerback and wide receiver. He also showed some good footwork to go with his speed.
“I felt in the beginning I did pretty good,” Day said. “Towards the end, it was getting kind of hot. With this hot weather and hot turf, my feet were kind of hurting and I was getting cramped up. But overall, I thought I did pretty good.”
With recent offers from Cincinnati and Kentucky, Day was in Illinois last week, but is really looking to connect with the Buckeyes again.
“It meant a lot in terms of a scholarship or not,” he said. “I’m not really sure if I got my scholarship or not. They’re re-evaluating and I’ll call them in a day or two.
“My mom grew up in Ohio State. It’s my hometown and one of the top schools. … Illinois, I really like them. They’re in my top three. Ohio State, if they offered me, would be, too.”
