Few programs have had more success at running back than Wisconsin, and 2014 prospect Jeff Jones could be the latest in line.
While camping with the Badgers on Sunday, Jones (Minneapolis/Washburn) picked up an offer from the Big Ten champions. He spoke with both coach Bret Bielema and running backs coach Thomas Hammock while in Madison.
“Meet with (Bielema) went great. He seems like a nice guy,” Jones said. “He’s running this program good. The last two years they went undefeated (at home). He’s doing a good job of getting kids who want to compete.
“… Coach Hammock was telling me about the tradition here and the last few years they’ve had a real good running back. The offensive line will always be great here.”
Jones also added an offer from Iowa State recently, and the Badgers and Cyclones join Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State and Minnesota on Jones’ offer list.
“Pretty much everyone is pretty high on my list,” Jones said. “I just got to get out there and see what these coaches and programs are about and then from there I can make my decision off of academics and the weight program and how much the coaching staff likes me and wants me to be there.”
Notre Dame has not offered Jones, but the 6-foot, 190-pound rising junior plans to visit the Irish this summer. He also hopes to make it to Iowa and Michigan State in the near future.
