Ohio State already has the third- and fourth-ranked defensive backs in the nation from the ESPN 150 class of 2013 in Eli Woodard (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern) and Cam Burrows (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison). Could there be a chance to grab No. 1?
The Buckeyes could find out soon, as Vernon Hargreaves III (Tampa, Fla./Wharton) plans to visit Ohio State on July 16. Hargreaves is also the No. 4 ranked player in the country.
“Yes, that’s the plan,” his mother Jackie said in a phone conversation. “He said he will be there within the next two weeks.”
Hargreaves’ stop will be just one in a whirlwind couple of weeks, as he plans on checking out Stanford, Oregon and USC while he’s on the West Coast at The Opening in Oregon later this week.
After that, the five-star defensive MVP from the IMG Madden 7-on-7 National Championship will visit Ohio State and Notre Dame.
Hargreaves has offers from big-name schools such as Florida, Florida State, Michigan and Miami, but one of the most interesting ones comes from the University of South Florida where his father, Vernon Hargreaves Jr., is the special teams and defensive ends coach.
