Michigan State and Notre Dame have both offered 2014 outside linebacker Nyles Morgan (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee), so Saturday put him in a tight situation.
Morgan made it to East Lansing for the Spartans’ game against the Fighting Irish, and he went as an impartial visitor.
“I would say technically I was cheering for both teams, to be honest,” Morgan said. “I wanted to watch the defenses.”
Specifically, Morgan had his eyes on the linebacker units for both teams, and Morgan liked what he saw on both sides.
When taking in both teams as a whole, though, he gave Notre Dame the edge.
“If I had to say so, it had to be Notre Dame,” Morgan said. “Michigan State did execute on defense, but the offense wasn’t up to par.”
The scene at Spartans Stadium did make an impression on Morgan, however.
“The atmosphere was great,” he said. “Any school I go to needs to have a great atmosphere.”
Morgan’s next visit will come this Saturday when he travels to Notre Dame when it hosts another rival, Michigan.
