Ohio State’s full-court press for Da’Shawn Hand (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) continued Tuesday when assistant coach Zach Smith popped into the ESPN Watch List junior’s school to check in on the 6-foot-4, 245-pound defensive end.
The visit came on the heels of Hand’s unofficial visit to Columbus on Saturday, where he saw the Buckeyes complete an undefeated season with a 26-21 win over Michigan.
“He asked if I enjoyed the visit and what I thought of the game,” Hand said. “The visit shows they really care.”
Smith’s visit came after a week where Hand not only took in the Ohio State game, but put the Buckeyes in a top 10 list that includes Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Virginia Tech.
It also warmed Hand up after a weekend he isn’t quite used to just yet.
“It was cold, real cold. I’m not used to that,” Hand said. “It was flurrying and I hadn’t seen that in a long time.
“But other than that it was cool, people were nice to me, the coaches were cool. It was fun.”
