HOUSTON -- Defensive tackle Marvin Wilson received his Under Armour All-America Game jersey Friday in a presentation sponsored by American Family Insurance at Episcopal High in Houston.
Friday’s ceremony was clearly a big day for the five-star defensive tackle now having the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of top college and NFL players that played in the Under Armour All-America Game.
“It means everything you know,” said Wilson. “Just being a guy that watched Leonard Fournette, Julio Jones and all those others guys that played in the game growing up, it means the world to me that I get to play in the game.”
On the recruiting front, Wilson is planning to announce his decision on signing day on ESPN. He has made an official visit to Oklahoma, will be at Florida State for the Clemson game, and is likely to visit Ohio State Nov. 26. LSU, Texas and Florida State are considered the front runners with Texas A&M, Ohio State and Oklahoma in the mix.
Four questions with Marvin Wilson:
What players are you looking forward to competing with or against at the Under Armour All America game?
"Actually, some of my closest friends like Alex Leatherwood, Isaiah Wilson and Trey Smith, those guys right there. I want to go against some of my close friends, and have fun.”
What is your earliest football memory?
"I actually remember my first game of my game my second year. I hit the quarterback, grabbing the fumble and taking from one five yard line to the other.”
What number do you wear, and why?
"I wear 99. I’ve been wearing it since I was little. Watching guys like Warren Sapp and others wear it, I just want to keep the tradition going.”
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
"I’m a leader off the bat. I’m the guy that tells everyone just to follow me, and I’m going to take you where you want to be. I’m going to make sure you are satisfied with where you want to be.”
The 2017 Under Armour All-America Game will be played on January 1 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla. on ESPN with practices televised on ESPNU during the week.
