QB Nate Sudfeld opens up his recruitment

Quarterback Nate Sudfeld (Modesto Christian, Calif.) has decided to decommit from Arizona and open up the recruiting process.

Sudfeld was an early commitment to the Cats and even through the coaching change, maintained that he was solid in his commitment. He did say he would keep his options open as new schools started to recruit him but Arizona still looked like the team to beat.

“I actually made the decision this morning,” Sudfeld said. “I’m still going to talk with them and they’re still going to recruit me but I just felt like it was best to open myself up and not have that ‘commitment’ label on me as I go through the process.

“I’m going to visit UCLA (Jan. 20) and they have been recruiting me hard for a while now. They haven’t offered me yet but hopefully it happens. I plan to graduate early and that was really the sticking point in me opening things up. I just didn’t feel comfortable enrolling early at Arizona right now before I really knew more about the new staff. Like I said, they’re still going to recruit me and I’m still looking at them as well.”

As a senior, Sudfeld completed 146-of-271 passes for 2,390 yards and 29 touchdowns with nine picks.
