Impressive numbers and plays highlight Oakland Opening regional

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. -- The Oakland Opening represented one of the final opportunities for prospects across the country to compete for an invitation to The Opening Finals, held in early July at the Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. That led to a terrific group of recruits on the field Sunday, as 12 invitations went out to prospects from five different states.

Here is a look at the day through social media.

The 12 prospects to receive invitations to The Opening Finals were quarterback Jacob Eason, 2017 running back Najee Harris, wide receivers Theo Howard and Kalakaua Timoteo, offensive lineman Frank Martin, defensive lineman Oluwole Betiku, linebackers Camilo Eifler and Caleb Kelly and defensive backs Jordan Fuller, Jordan Parker, Byron Murphy and David Long.

Howard doesn’t owe his invite solely to his SPARQ testing performance, but putting together a 4.38-second 40-yard dash certainly didn’t hurt. An Oregon commit, Howard showcased some of that speed here.

Likewise, Eifler began the day in impressive fashion, recording a 42.8-inch vertical leap and placing in the 92nd percentile or above in all five testing categories.

ESPN 300 cornerback Byron Murphy put together a solid day. He said that he’ll visit Texas A&M and Washington this summer.
