Isaiah Jones picks ECU

Receiver Isaiah Jones (Austin, Texas/Stephen F. Austin) originally wanted to wait for his stock to blow up with a big senior season.

But on Sunday he decided he couldn't wait that long, and Jones committed to East Carolina.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound wideout chose ECU over an offer from Arkansas State and interest from Arizona, Houston, Iowa State and New Mexico.

"First of all, I want to thanks to God. I chose ECU because I feel it's a family atmosphere and I have coaches who believe in me," Jones said.

Jones, the younger brother of touted Texas freshman receiver Cayleb Jones, is commit No. 13 for the Pirates' 2013 recruiting class.

"I felt I was going to wait it would be a roller coaster," Jones said. "I have had mixed feelings and in my heart I just felt it was time."

He went with ECU because, quite simply, the Pirate staff made it clear they wanted him at a time when few others have.

"It's kind of like that girl that wants you, and all the others don't think you are good enough," he said.

And Jones rewarded the coaches for their faith. He's the first receiver to join the Pirates' class.
