Several FSU commits, targets in ESPN 300

At first glance, this year's Florida State recruiting class lacks the star power of the two before it. That isn't to say it is void of quality, though. But Seminoles do have some offensive firepower on the list, notably four-star prospects Ryan Green, Isaiah Jones, and Levonte Whitfield. In the trenches, which has been an area of focus for the Seminoles coaching state in recent cycles, offensive linemen Austin Golson and Ira Denson and defensive end Davin Bellamy have them off to a good start.

Sitting at 17 total commitments, there is still work to do. But fortunately for FSU, there are some excellent options.

The Seminoles are in on the top-rated outside linebacker in the country, Matthew Thomas, and could probably be projected to sign him if things remain the same until national signing day. Alex Collins, a four-star Miami commitment, is also eyeing Florida State closely and has already taken an official visit to Tallahassee. Other elite prospects still on the board include Mackensie Alexander, Tim Williams, Za'Darius Smith, Keith Bryant, Denver Kirkland, Leon McQuay III, Stacy Coley, Tony Stevens and Taj Williams. Should Florida State close strong, it should be capable of making a surge up the rankings come the first Wednesday in February.
