Linebacker Matt Rowe (Long Beach Poly, Calif.) was the last of the ‘Poly 5’ to commit to Arizona State last summer. With the Sun Devils still looking for a head coach, Rowe said he’s in a bit of an awkward situation.
Rowe, a three star player ranked as the No. 43 player in the state, committed to the Sun Devils over offers from Oregon State, Washington, Nebraska, Nevada and UCLA. He always planned to take his official visits, so when former coach Dennis Erickson was fired, Rowe didn’t sound too alarmed.
Fast forward a few weeks later and now Rowe is in a unique position.
“I wanted to visit Washington and Nebraska and probably UCLA, but I haven’t heard from anyone,” Rowe said. “I’m still waiting to see who Arizona State hires, and now I’m hearing that my recruiting coach, Steve Broussard, might be going to UCLA I just talked to him on Saturday and he didn’t mention anything about leaving but said to stay patient, they’re still looking for the right guy and hope to have someone in place soon.
"I’m just pretty confused right now to be honest and I’m not sure what direction things are going to go.”
