South Carolina continues hot streak

Pharoh Cooper (Havelock, N.C.) committed to South Carolina Thursday, according to WCTI12.com. He is expected to play cornerback and return kicks for the Gamecocks.

North Carolina State and East Carolina also extended scholarship offers to the 5-foot-11, 181-pound prospect. UConn, Maryland, North Carolina and Wake Forest were among the other programs showing interest.

Cooper lined up at receiver last fall and caught 65 passes for 1,285 yards and 14 touchdowns.

He posted an electronically-timed 4.75 40-yard dash, 4.35 20-yard shuttle, 30.2-inch vertical and 76.23 SPARQ at the Charlotte Nike Combine in March.

The Gamecocks now has a dozen pledges for 2013. South Carolina has received four commitments, including its three highest-rated prospects in the current ESPN rankings, during the last week.
