Illinois lures LB away from Canes

Four-star outside linebacker Keith Brown (Miami, Fla./Norland) switched his commitment from Miami-FL to Illinois Wednesday night, multiple sources report. Brown made an official visit for the weekend of October 11th.

Despite the commitment to Miami, he considered other programs for some time. Florida State, Florida, South Florida, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Michigan, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Rutgers, Clemson, Wisconsin, Alabama, Purdue, Texas Tech, Central Florida and Florida International also offered.

Brown, who was Miami's first Class of 2012 pledge after posting 97 tackles as a sophomore, made three other official visits; Clemson (September 23rd), Purdue (October 7th) and South Florida (October 21st).

He's posted some impressive combine-verified figures including a 4.73 40-yard dash, 4.19 20-yard shuttle and 36.5-inch vertical.

Additionally, Brown's high school teammate and fellow linebacker Lamar Atkins has committed to join the Fighting Illini. Illinois now has 13 Class of 2012 pledges. Offensive lineman Robert Bain was another recent addition.
