Vanderbilt continues to build on a well-rounded, top-20 class with talented prospects such as Tre' Bell (Jersey City, N.J./St. Peter's) who have been courted by more prominent national programs on the recruiting trail. Bell is coach James Franklin’s second top-25 corner commitment, joining Ryan White (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) and third overall DB if you count talented safety Malik Greaves (Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood).
Bell might have a height advantage over White but the two have very similar games overall, including versatile skill-sets and playing styles that are bigger and faster on film than their listed size and speed would indicate on paper. Bell also excels in zone schemes like White, anticipating with keen instincts, closing on the football with burst and supporting the perimeter run aggressively. Defensive coordinator Bob Shoop has to be pleased with the defensive backs class that is forming as it’s a unit that has really produced for Vandy as of late but is need of reloading with talented young depth.
