TTU decommit Lauderdale setting visits

Four-star wide receiver Devin Lauderdale (Houston, Texas/Bellaire) was considering decommitting from Texas Tech before Tommy Tuberville took the head coaching position at Cincinnati. That news proved to be the proverbial last straw, as Lauderdale parted ways with the Red Raiders on Tuesday.

Now Lauderdale, a 5-foot-11, 173-pound speedster, is looking at visiting four schools in the next few weeks. Lauderdale said he will visit Oklahoma State on Dec. 18 and Notre Dame on Jan. 25. Cal and West Virginia also are in the mix. All four schools, Lauderdale said, have offered.

“I’m opening my options up again,” Lauderdale said. “I’m just looking to see the environments. I want to also see how the educational systems are. Mostly, I want to feel the love from the schools.”

Lauderdale said he had no ill feelings towards Texas Tech, but it was time to move into a different direction. In addition to the four schools, Lauderdale had offers from Alabama, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Auburn and UCLA, among others.

Lauderdale caught a team-high 27 passes for 583 yards and nine touchdowns this season for Bellaire. He also rushed for three touchdowns.
