LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Laquon Treadwell (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee) seems to like the southeastern culture, and that could be a good thing for Ole Miss.
The ESPN 150 wide receiver says the Rebels are in his top three with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. He will take his official to Stillwater on Jan. 11.
“My recruitment got pretty wild there for a couple of weeks, but once I starting talking with the schools I was most interested in and put together a top three everything settled down,” Treadwell said. “I don’t expect any schools to challenge those three, but we’ll see.”
Treadwell understands that he choices might surprise some but he is excited about what coach Hugh Freeze is doing at Ole Miss.
“I like it down this way, it’s a different culture,” Treadwell said. “It’s much different from the Midwest to be honest. “The new coaches there are something different than what I experienced in the Big Ten. Coach Freeze and that staff, they are great guys. My old teammate, Anthony Standifer, is there and that’s cool.”
Treadwell will have two officials remaining after his trip to Oklahoma State and wants to make a decision before signing day. However, he is also thinking about another visit.
“I have been in contact with the University of Miami as well,” Treadwell added. “That might be a good place to visit and see what they have to offer.
“I will be making my decision shortly after Jan. 11 though.”
