Four-star athlete Justin Thomas (Prattville, Ala.), who decommitted from Alabama on Tuesday, is now set to play for the Yellow Jackets, multiple sources report.
He is being recruited as a quarterback by Georgia Tech and head coach Paul Johnson. According to multiple reports, Alabama was expected to give Thomas a chance to remain under center, however, a move to receiver or defensive back was a strong possibility.
Thomas originally committed to the Crimson Tide last November. Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, LSU, Miami-Fla., Southern Miss and South Alabama were among the other programs to offer Thomas earlier in the process.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound senior becomes Georgia Tech's highest-rated recruit for 2012. The Yellow Jackets have 14 verbals.
Thomas completed 110 of 168 attempts (65.5 percent) for 1,652 yards, 13 touchdowns and five interceptions this fall while leading Prattville to a state title. He also carried 128 times for 896 yards (7.0 average) and seven more scores.
