Bulldogs add a pair of defensive backs

According to multiple sources, cornerbacks Lashard Durr (Gulfport, Miss./Harrison Central) and Chris Rayford (Byhalia, Miss./Byhalia) committed to Mississippi State.

Durr, a 6-foot-1, 181-pound prospect, selected the Bulldogs over scholarship offers from Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette and Oklahoma along with interest from LSU and Ole Miss.

Mississippi State was Rayford's first offer, and he jumped on it. Louisiana-Monroe, Memphis, Ole Miss and Southern Miss showed interest in the 5-foot-11, 183-pound prospect. He posted an electronically-timed 4.63 40-yard dash, 4.53 20-yard shuttle, 33.1-inch vertical, 32-foot power throw and 80.82 SPARQ this spring at a Nike combine.

The Bulldogs now have six commitments for 2014. Five of those players made their decision this month.
