The Early Offer is RecruitingNation's regular feature, giving you a daily dose of recruiting in the mornings. Friday's offerings: Michigan State doesn’t get as much attention as Ohio State or Michigan, but the Spartans are putting together a very solid recruiting effort; is Los Angeles offensive lineman Chris Brown the hottest recruit in the country; and the Under Armour All-America Game is less than two months away.
Don’t sleep on Spartans’ class
Lost in the shuffle of Tennessee moving up to No. 2 in Wednesday's update of the RecruitingNation class rankings was the uptick of Michigan State to No. 38. Most of the attention in the Big Ten has been focused on Ohio State and Michigan’s recruiting successes, and rightfully so, but the Spartans have put together a sneaky good class. The Spartans have always had a big Midwest footprint with their recruiting classes under Mark Dantonio and this year is no different. With Illinois still struggling, MSU has gone into the Illini’s backyard and done some major damage. Center Brian Allen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) is the fourth-best player at his position and a four-star recruit, and defensive tackle Enoch Smith Jr. (Chicago/Mt. Carmel) is another four-star addition who was heavily recruited by many.
Hottest recruit in the country?
RecruitingNation Pac-12 writer Erik McKinney said in mid-October that Los Angeles Loyola four-star offensive tackle Chris Brown had generated the most momentum of any recruit in the West region. Now that things have continued to ramp up, it might be more appropriate to call Brown the hottest recruit in the entire country. Brown picked up an offer from Washington State earlier this fall, but things significantly changed when USC offered. Since then, Brown has added offers from Arizona, Boise State, Cal, Colorado, Fresno State, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Oregon (Nov. 15 visit), San Diego State, Texas A&M, UCLA and Washington. The offers likely won't start there as he has had a tremendous senior season.
UA Game coming soon
We’re now less than two months away from the Under Armour All-American Game, and looking at the roster and the photo gallery from the American Family Insurance Selection Tour, the game could go down as the best collection of high school football talent yet. The game is on Jan. 2 (ESPN, 4 p.m. ET) at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., and RecruitingNation will have coverage of the practices and plenty more leading up to the game.
