Watson's long road leads to Tallahassee

Florida State has received a commitment for Saddleback Junior College (Mission Viejo, Calif.) offensive tackle Menelik Watson, according to multiple sources.

He was born in Manchester, England, and played soccer as a youth. Watson originally signed a basketball scholarship with Marist. After two season with the program, he moved to San Diego, Calif. hoping to find a place to play football. There, he attended a combine, measured in at 6-foot-6, 308-pounds, and ran a 4.72 40-yard dash, according to reports.

After exploding onto the recruiting scene, Watson picked up scholarship offers from Florida State, Auburn, California, Rutgers, Washington and San Diego State with other programs such as USC, Oklahoma and Oregon showing interest, multiple sources report.

Watson took official visits to Washington (Dec. 9), Auburn (Dec. 16), Tallahassee (Jan. 13) and Rutgers (Jan. 20).

He isn't the only FSU commit bringing an international flair to the Seminoles 2012 class. New Mexico Military Institute (Roswell, M.N.) offensive tackle Daniel Glauser is from Rheinfelden, Switzerland.
