Five-star Marvin Wilson has questions for Stoops, Meyer, Fisher on in-home visits

Five-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson didn’t make a scheduled official visit to South Florida over the weekend due to Charlie Strong wanting to back up his visit to Jan. 27.

The No. 4-ranked and top uncommitted prospect remaining in the 2017 class got prepared for a critical week ahead with signing day. With 11 days until signing day, this week could be the most import of Wilson’s more than two-year recruitment.

“Right now, I’m just getting ready for the in-home visits from head coaches this week,” said Wilson. “This week is going to be key for me and my family. I’m going to go into the visits with questions for the coaches to see if the answers are the same as they have always been, or I catch them in a lie. I’m really paying attention to every detail this week. How are they really at my home and with my family.”

On Tuesday, Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops will make his final pitch to the Under Armour All-America Game standout, followed by Ohio State’s Urban Meyer Wednesday and Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher Thursday.

Wilson has specific questions for each head coach.

Bob Stoops: I want to see how he sees me developing at Oklahoma. It’s been a while since they have had a player ranked as highly as I am, so I want to hear Coach Stoops’ plan, and how they would develop me. They like to preach that I’m the cherry on top of the class, but being developed is the key.

Urban Meyer: Can I trust you? It’s a long ways from home to Columbus, Ohio. Right now they have a leg up because my boys Jeff [Okudah] and Baron [Browning] are loving it up there. How are going to take care of me and develop me, and how early can I make an impact?

Jimbo Fisher: It’s the same as Ohio State. It’s a long ways from home. How are you going to take care of me? It’s not like I can get in a car and drive home, so it’s important to know how you are going to take care of me. Can I come in and play early? I know it’s going to be a dog-fight at FSU to get on the field. What are their plans for me?

LSU head coach Ed Orgeron visited Wilson on Dec. 1. Wilson feels secure in his standing with the LSU head coach, and staff having been to Baton Rouge a number of times over the last three years.

“I’ve been over there so much, so I don’t have any questions left that haven’t already been answered,” Wilson said. “I had a good in home with Coach [Dennis] Johnson last week, and all my questions have been answered.”

Wilson will announce his decision on national signing day.
