Tyree Smallwood makes decision

Milford Academy (New Berlin, N.Y.) talent Tyree Smallwood signed to play for Bethune-Cookman Friday, according to the RecordOnline.com.

Smallwood originally signed with Syracuse in 2012 as a three-star running back prospect out of Cornwall (N.Y.) Central but did not meet NCAA requirements to enroll. He expects to play receiver at Bethune-Cookman.

"What happened with Syracuse, I just feel it's motivation," said Smallwood. "It just made me work harder and I tried to turn it into a positive. I just prayed to God every night and I'm going to go to (Bethune-Cookman) and work hard."

The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder also considered Towson and Coastal Carolina. Rutgers and North Carolina were among the other programs showing interest earlier in the process.
