Highly-coveted linebacker Shane Jones (Cincinnati/Moeller) has committed to play for Michigan State according to Moeller coach John Rodenberg, the Sycamore Township reports.
“He said he just felt (Michigan State) was that great of a fit for himself and he was done,” Rodenberg said. "I think he just felt a comfort level that it’s close, it’s a good school and a lot of Moeller guys are up there,” Rodenberg added. “They let him know he was their No. 1 guy.”
Arizona, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Boston College, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Penn State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Illinois, Akron, Cincinnati, Kent State and Purdue were among his other scholarship offers.
Jones, 6-foot-1, 220-pounds, registered 50 solo tackles, 39 assists, nine tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception and five pass breakups during the regular season last fall.
With this addition, the Spartans have six recruits on board for 2013.
