Four-star athlete / quarterback Carlis Parker (Statesville, N.C.) has committed to sign with Virginia Tech, according to multiple sources.
Duke, East Carolina, North Carolina State, North Carolina, Wake Forest and South Carolina also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-4, 190-pound talent. Other programs including Maryland and Clemson showed interest.
Parker would have likely received more recruiting attention but he suffered a season-ending knee injury that required surgery during the first game of his junior campaign. As a sophomore, he amassed 2,800 yards of offense.
The Statesville, N.C. native displayed his impressive athleticism on the combine circuit registering a 4.69 40-yard dash, 4.37 20-yard shuttle and 30.6-inch vertical.
Virginia Tech gained several commitments over the weekending, including one from four-star dual-threat quarterback Bucky Hodges (Virginia Beach, Va./Salem). With Parker on board, the Hokies' class has grown to 10 pledges.
