John L. Smith lands No. 1 at Arkansas

Running back Kaleb Blanchard (Denham Springs, La.) has become the first Razorbacks' commitment since the departure of former head coach Bobby Petrino, The Advocate reports.

Blanchard also picked up scholarship offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Louisiana-Lafayette while TCU and Vanderbilt showed interest.

He burst onto the scene as a sophomore rushing for 1,799 yards and 21 touchdowns. However, shoulder, back and hamstring injuries limited Blanchard to 400 yards and five touchdowns in just four games last season.

“Some colleges doubted me and said I’d never be the same Kaleb,” Blanchard said. “Arkansas stuck by me... When I went up there, everything felt right."

Blanchard is a 6-foot, 195-pound prospect.
