The Pitt Panthers have received a commitment from cornerback/safety Titus Howard (Clairton, Pa.), multiple sources report.
Akron, Arkansas State, Connecticut, St. Francis (Pa.), Toledo and Youngstown State also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-2, 165-pound prospect. Rutgers, among others, showed interest.
"I like the defense. I'm used to it because that's all we play is man coverage [at Clairton]," Howard told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "But everything just felt right for me to make my decision, the coaching staff, the academic stuff they took me through today -- it really just felt like home for me."
Howard is the sixth 2013 verbal for the Panthers from the state of Pennsylvania and eighth overall.
