Chips grab three more defenders

According to multiple sources, Central Michigan has picked up three new commitments for 2013.

5-foot-11, 180-pound defensive back Desmond King (Detroit, Mich./Crockett Tech) selected the Chippewas over scholarship offers form Ball State, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan and Wisconsin. Other programs including Bowling Green, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Penn State, Princeton, Purdue and Toledo showed preliminary interest.

Central Michigan won another recruiting battle for defensive end Chris Kantzavelos (Bartlett, Mich.) who held additional scholarship offers from Eastern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Miami-OH, North Dakota, Toledo, Western Kentucky and Western Michigan.

Defensive end Don Kyre (Olivet, Mich.), a 6-foot-2, 250-pound prospect, has also committed. According to Rivals.com, Akron, Ball State and Eastern Michigan showed interest.

The Chippewas have already reeled in 14 pledges for 2013, by far the most in the Mid-American Conference.
