Darius Allensworth (Romoland, Calif./Heritage) is back on the market after decommitting from Arizona on Thursday. But that might not last long, as the 5-foot-11, 174-pound two-way athlete still hopes to announce his final decision Aug. 16.
The school that would seem to benefit the most from Allensworth’s announcement is California, as he will take an unofficial visit to the Berkeley campus this weekend. The Golden Bears offered a scholarship to Allensworth earlier this month and he was immediately intrigued. Though Allensworth maintained that Arizona was still his leader, his consistent interest in Cal kept Jeff Tedford’s program squarely in the picture.
Wisconsin is also in the mix for the three-star athlete, as Allensworth took an unofficial visit to see the Badgers two weeks ago.
It isn’t a guarantee that Allensworth will announce a commitment on the 16th, as he said he wants to be fully secure in his decision before making it this time.
