Fullback/linebacker Matt Walsh received a scholarship offer from UConn on Thursday, made an unofficial visit to campus Friday and committed to the program, according to the Middletown Press.
“Since the beginning of the process, and growing up, I’ve always wanted to go to UConn,” Walsh said. “It was always the big team around here and they were always the home team for me. I have been up to Storrs many times. The facilities are amazing and I love everything about it.
“It was really exciting, especially being in coach [Paul] Pasqualoni’s office, but I still think it hasn’t set in yet. It is going to take a few days to fully set in.”
Rivals.com reports that Delaware also offered the 6-foot-1, 232-pound prospect. Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech and UMass showed interest.
Walsh is the 14th 2013 pledge for the Huskies.
