Purdue has not been 3-1 since 2007. That also might have been the last time the Boilermakers had a recruiting weekend as big as the one they will have this weekend when they host the Michigan Wolverines.
Eight official visitors will arrive for the weekend in West Lafayette, including some big names that frankly would surprise most people in that Purdue was able to land an official visit with them.
The headliner of the official visitors is four-star receiver and ESPN 300 prospect DeAndre Woods (Pinsin, Ala./Clay-Chalkville). The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Woods has offers from the likes of Arkansas, Auburn, Mississippi State, USC and Vanderbilt among others, yet his first official visit is going to Purdue.
The Boilermakers are looking to go back into Georgia after flipping ESPN 300 running back Keyante Green (McDonough, Ga./Eagles Landing Christian Academy) from UCLA back in July. Four-star outside linebacker Kristopher Smith from Flowery Branch, Ga., will also take his first official visit with the Boilermakers. And his three-star teammate Noel Padmore, a cornerback, will join him.
Three-star safety Trevor Walker from Arlington (Texas) Timberview is also officially visiting. He holds offers from programs such as Arkansas, Iowa, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt.
Florida will be represented as well, as three-star Miami Southridge cornerback Lamar Robbins will be attending. His first official visit is going to Purdue over other programs that have offered, including Auburn, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas A&M. Fellow corner Boaz Joseph (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) will also officially visit.
Three-star receiver Brian Lemelle (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) is scheduled to make an official visit to the Boilermakers, too.
Our Neighbor to the North will be represented, as offensive tackle David Knevel (Brantford, ON, CAN/Pauline Johnson C&VS) will make his second visit to Purdue.
Quarterback commit and ESPN 300 prospect Danny Etling (Terre Haute, Ind./South Vigo) will visit unofficially and offer his services to help sway those recruits.
As for the junior class, talented targets Mikale Wilbon (Chicago/De La Salle), Denzel Ward (Chicago/Hales Franciscan), Matt Morrissey (Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) and Christopher Murphy (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter) will also be in attendance. Wilbon, Ward and Murphy all have Purdue offers.
