Buckeyes among 2014 DT's favorites

Sitting in the stands Saturday just a few rows up from the field, Brian Allen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) could barely hear the people sitting next to him.

As a two-way lineman, Allen is glad he was in the stands and not on the field trying to hear the quarterback’s cadence.

“It was pretty insane ... probably the loudest stadium I’ve been to,” the 2014 prospect said. “It was hard to hear each other talking standing right next to each other. I can’t imagine what it’d be like on the field listening to the snap count.”

It was a stark contrast to the first time Allen was inside the Horseshoe, when he joked that there could not have been more than 100 people there. He called it “a little different” when more than 100,000 packed Ohio Stadium.

Allen was one of the first recruits to get to the stadium Saturday. He spoke with Chicago-area recruiter Mike Vrabel as well as offensive line coach Ed Warriner. The coaching staff told Allen to be patient with an offer.

“They want to get a [full-game] film," he said. "They saw my highlight tape. They like that but they want to see a full game.”

The Buckeyes are among the early favorites for Allen, who has offers from Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Purdue and Wisconsin.

“I really like Michigan State, Wisconsin and Iowa,” he said. “Other than those schools that offered I like Ohio State. That [visit] was definitely really cool."

Allen will visit Iowa and Wisconsin this month and plans to make it to Michigan in November.
