The Golden Gophers have reached into yet another state, Tennessee, for their latest verbal from three-star defensive tackle Demaris Peppers (Memphis/Fairley), multiple sources report.
Minnesota now has nine commitments for 2013 including at least one pledge from Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, Texas, Wisconsin and the Volunteer State.
Arkansas State, Houston, Memphis and Western Kentucky also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-3, 25o-pound Peppers. Arkansas, Cincinnati, Louisville and Mississippi State showed interest.
ESPN describes Peppers as, "a kid who can be tough inside, but needs to keep developing both physically and as a player so he can get more from the ability he has. We don't see an immediate contributor, but if he can continue to add size and evolve his game he could be a productive player who can at least offer some good depth at the FBS level."
