2014 OL Dolford getting D-line looks

2014 Durel Dolford (Missouri City, Texas/Hightower) might be preparing for a position switch.

As a slightly undersized offensive lineman, Dolford said he has been in contact with schools interested in playing him on the defensive side of the ball. Dolford, a shade under 6-foot-1 and 250 pounds, has been in recent contact with Arkansas’ Chris Klenakis, his recruiting contact, about being a potential defensive tackle on the college level.

“He said I’m not the ideal size for an O-lineman, but he liked the way I moved, so he suggested the D-line,” Dolford said. “That’s what I want to play in college. “I like the opportunity because I get a chance to show my athleticism and power.

“It’s different from O-line because you’re kind of limited in certain areas. The techniques are different, and you just have to have that ‘it’ factor. I feel like I’m up for the challenge.”

Dolford additionally has received letters from Utah, SMU, Boston College, Tulsa and Arizona. Montana and Wofford also have been in the mix.

Dolford said he missed the last month of football with a concussion, so he’s looking to make giant leaps on the field with the help of a solid offseason. He said he will focus on getting bigger and quicker. No visits are scheduled for the time being, but Dolford said he’s looking to visit SMU, Tulsa, Arkansas and Arizona during the spring.
