Three-star running back Stafon McCray (Kissimmee, Fla./Osceola) took his official to Marshall this month and says that the Thundering Herd have moved to top of his list.
Now it’s going to be a waiting game for the 5-foot-11, 195-pound senior as he plans on a big playoff run.
“We’ve got a big game against Lakeland this week and I want to focus on this postseason,” McCray said. “So right now the top five is the same but I won’t make any decisions until sometime in January.”
McCray’s top five include Marshall, Ohio, Boise State, Cincinnati and Utah State.
“Right away, I enjoyed being around the coaches and players,” McCray said of his visit to Marshall's Huntington, W.Va., campus. “It was a lot of fun and I didn’t want to leave. It felt like leaving family because I became so attached to everyone in such a short period of time.”
As much as McCray enjoyed Marshall, he knows he’ll need to take more visits.
“It was a great trip, an amazing trip but I need to have something else to compare it to,” he said. “I’ll make a decision on my next trip soon, but I don’t think I’ll take a visit until after the playoffs.
“Hopefully we can win state.”
